QSGI Comments on Personal Data Security during the Holiday Season on CNBC's Squawk Box

HIGHTSTOWN, NJ—December 26, 2006—QSGI, Inc. (OTC:BB QSGI) today provided commentary regarding the importance of properly erasing hard drive data from personal and corporate computers. A link to the interview is available at: http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=158190460&play=1. In addition to QSGI’s corporate suite of services, utilized by many of the leading Fortune 500 companies, QSGI offers a personal and small business edition of its data erasure software at www.eraseyourharddrive.com.

Seth Grossman, president and chief operating officer of QSGI, stated, “The first thing anyone should do when either donating, selling or handing down their PC is to make sure that they remove all personal data. Not making sure that your hard drive is thoroughly erased is one of the leading causes of data theft and data security breaches.”

Most PC users believe that deleting personal data files and emptying trash is an effective method of data erasure. Even computer professionals believe that reformatting the hard drive erases all the hard drive’s contents. The truth is that both of these methods only remove the “pointers” to where the data still resides.

QSGI recommends all consumers and corporations utilize software that erases hard drives no less than 3X, in order to be compliant with the Department of Defense standards for hard drive sanitization, and which automatically generates a certificate of erasure following a verification pass to ensure successful data erasure.

Mr. Grossman cited a recent MIT study in which more than 1,000 computers were purchased on the open market. The study found that a significant percentage of these computers had highly sensitive personal data which could have easily led to identity theft.
