QSGI Files Patent Application for Mobile Data Erasure and Audit Facility
Secured Transport & Chain of Custody Risks Eliminated
HIGHTSTOWN, NJ—February 28, 2006—QSGI, Inc. (PCX: QGI) today announced that it has filed a patent application for its proprietary mobile data erasure and auditing process (“mobile facility”). The company’s new mobile facility is contained within a tractor trailer, and is capable of processing more than 1,500 desktops, laptops, servers and data tapes per day. Since the process takes place directly at the client location, from any loading bay, QSGI can provide the data security and regulatory solution conveniently for corporations concerned with both:
|
- The secured transport of their IT assets
- The secured audit and erasure of their IT assets at the vendor’s processing facilities
|
The new mobile facility provides the same level and quality of services as the company’s fixed facility solution, including:
|
- Hard drive disk erasure to a minimum 3X overwrite, Department of Defense standards
- Real-time auditing and on-line reporting
- Seven-year asset tracking of all end-of-life equipment for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
- Multiple-site services, flexible processing times and quantities.
- Re-marketing of substantially all IT assets following completion of the data erasure and auditing process, to recover value from the retiring assets
|
Marc Sherman, chairman and chief executive officer of QSGI, commented, “Having completed a thorough review of all ‘prior art,’ we believe our new mobile data erasure and auditing facility is a major leap forward within the industry. This breakthrough process addresses the pent-up demand among major corporations with chain-of-custody concerns about desktops, laptops, servers and data tapes leaving their facilities, while still containing highly confidential data. These concerns are magnified by several highly public breaches of consumer data, where computer hard drives were lost or stolen in-transit. Data security breaches such as these expose companies of all sizes to enormous liability, not only from regulatory fines, but also from class-action lawsuits and public relations nightmares. Our new mobile facility addresses these concerns in a rapid and cost-effective manner before ever leaving the client location—which we believe will forever change the industry for end-of-life technology.”
